I'm BACK!!!!

So, I am glad to say that I am finally back.  It took a bit, but I am BACK!  These are just the kinds of things that happen when you're a 20-something... I love you, Jamie Cullum!  (btw, if you don't have the album "Twentysomething" by Jamie Cullum, get it!)

Aaron was right.  He always is when I'm dealing with crazy shit, and I am too when he is.  That's just how we work.  He knew that as soon as the cosmos dealt me their worst, then it would just work out.  It would just say, "Ok, he's had enough shit for a while.  Let's make his destiny line up again."

Thanks, Aaron, and thanks Cosmos!  I learned my lesson, and God has granted me some good news.

Great news.

For one, my long-lost friend from Troopers Lauren contacted me... she's sending me $$$ for the music that I wrote for her last summer.  That's awesome.. and, she wants me to write for her again THIS summer, which means I have lots of creative work to do!  It's soooo nice to be back...

Furthermore, Drums Along the Rockies is a huge Drum Corps event happening in Denver in mid-July, and she's getting me a plane ticket to go.  So excited!  I get to write her music, hear it in rehearsal, and check out Grad school at CU Boulder, all in one feel swoop!  Life is turning out rather well, which is WELL appreciated!

I am very excited about the show, actually -- the opener starts with 37 measures of pit solo, very ADVANCED solo, might I add, which means I get to have a hay-day writing it out!  I love this kind of creative work... I have fun, and get money for it!  I still have lots of bills to pay, but this will definitely help out.

Other than that, life is going on as planned.  I'm working at the Crappe Frappe dishing out "frozen cappuccinos" to the ignorant masses and hanging with beloved friends.  Knitting is still happening, and I am planning on picking up my guitar with regular frequency.  It's gonna be ok!

Thanks to everyone who had me in their thoughts and prayers, and everyone who got me wined/liquored up.  Have I mentioned lately that I enjoy the shit out of my wine?

I should be cooking up those awesome feta-burgers tonight... as soon as Charlie and Steph get home, I'll con them into chillin' 'round the grill!  Oh, and I bought the new Diana Krall jazz album today -- also a must!

You stay classy, San Diego!
