My Life Off the Grid: Day One

Without going into too many ugly details, I decided it was time to get rid of Facebook.  It was a huge leap, especially in this age of tweeting, IMing, messaging, and blogging.  It's true, I've gotten many gigs via Facebook contacts, but it's also true that I've gotten many invitations to Farmland, Mafiabattles, and a thousand other total wastes of motor skills.

Not shutting the door forever, I will probably be back on at some point.  When that time comes, however... I will probably choose a pseudonym to protect the innocent.  At this current juncture in my life, however, I am pleased to say that I don't have Cable TV or a Facebook account.  I feel like the crazy guy with the tinfoil hat, but I'm not so ready to sign my life away to the internet where everyone knows what I'm doing.

(Says the boy writing a blog entry about his personal life)

Ahemmm.... right.

In fiber news, I have a spinning wheel!  Whoo hooO!  Look at it:

It's a beauty, and it spins SOOO well!  I love it!  I hear that you're supposed to name these kinds of things... so given that I got it used (it's had a long life), it's slightly weathered, and it makes a thumpthunmp sound when you treadle it... I'm calling it Peg-legged Pete the Pirate.  Arrrr!

Yarn pics to come!
